Hancock County Animal Shelter Update
The wonderful people from Bucks and Montgomery Counties have adopted Hancock County to help us rebuild after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Known as the BucksMont Group, these wonderful people have already built a new Child Development Facility and several homes as well as providing other needed services. Their most ambitious project to date is the new Hancock County Animal Center.
The new Hancock County Animal Center is currently being built on land donated by the county on Texas Flat Road, off HWY 603 just north of Stennis Airport and Hancock Middle / High Schools. The new facility will be approximately 3300 square feet, but Hancock County Supervisors report that infrastructure will be in place for possible future expansion to 5000 square feet. It is estimated that the new shelter will be complete by February 2012.
